Young Rappers, Huge Talent!

Well, I saw an email this morning from Twist of OCD telling me that he was good friends with Tayyib Ali, so I took a listen to their music, coming across “No Time!” on their youtube account. I first started enjoying the beat & the sample, knowing that the sample was from a James Blunt song, and then was told that it was from Blunt’s song “1973,” in which X.Kalibur sampled. Here’s what OCD had to say about the song and about themselves, as well:

We’re based right out of Philly and have been rapping seriously since about 8th grade and we’re going into our senior year of high school now. We’re 17 and this is really what we love to do. Its not just a hobby like it is for most of these kids who say they rap these days. This is serious to us and it’s our dream to become big one day. We recorded this track with our engineer Sketcho back in the end of June. “No Time” will be featured on our upcoming mixtape called “Up Before The World.” We should be dropping a new single from the tape within the next few weeks along with a video directed by Rex Arrow Films.

Chill Summer Mixtape

The last of the series is here… simply titled The Chill End Of Summer Mixtape.  This one was actually going to be called ‘Leftovers’ because I had so many songs for the Barbecue Edition, this was was/is the second half of the batch.  Even though there is a change of name, the songs are the same.  All are reall chill, real hip hop, and perfect to get your head bobbin’ as your hanging out and relaxing.  A few real low-key artists on here, a few mash-ups, and a few non-album tracks from some of your favorites such as KiD Cudi or Wale.  I really hope you guys enjoyed this series and it gave me a good idea of what you liked/didn’t like so I can look at that as i continue to post.  Feel free to comment with some of your favorite artists you found on this series that you want to hear more of, or what tape was your favorite so I will try and find more songs that fit that genre.  ENJOY!

Hottest TMG Track

It’s been two weeks, and there has been some concern with my selections for the past weeks “Hottest Track”! Well, I don’t think I should have a problem with this weeks selection. When Mac’s not making tracks With Darelle Revis he’s banging out, well… bangers. “Knock Knock” was the standout song for me from his recent ‘K.I.D.S’ mixtape. Hell, that whole mixtape could of been an actual album so it’s no surprise there were such quality tracks on it. Dope Will Rousch

Well, last Monday I posted Will’s “Turn It Up (Remix)” and you guys seemed to like it with a 4 star rating and a solid amount of downloads. So, I did some more research and came up with this track, and trust me, it’s sick. He goes in on a version of Carly Comando’s “Everyday”, better known as the NBA-Where-Amazing-Happens song. Must download mashup!

I may like mashups more than anyone else on the team, and “Pop Bottles Baby” by White Panda has become my new anthem ever since White Panda released it not too long ago. Well, for the rest of the week, I’m gonna try to show you some mashups I enjoy. Today is day 1 and Friday will be the last day of the series, finishing with my favorite mashup group. Today I’m showing you the genius of DJ DoYou, who you may remember from his Stuntin Like Mufasa mixtape, which I definitely think is a must download. Well this song, Amber Shoulders, was from a prior mixtape, but is a great blend that is perfect to chill to, mixing Biggie’s “Dead Wrong,” Jay-Z’s “Dirt off your Shoulder,” and of course, 311′s “Amber.”

Chill Song

So last week jschramm posted this gem and it got me thinking of this classic Novel song. Novel is an up and coming rapper/singer/producer, basically everything. In this song he remixes this by adding new vocals as well as rapping to fill the verses. I like the song. It may be a little different than some GMAD stuff but it’s still good music. Enjoy..

Must Download Dubstep!

Well, first off, if you are a dubstep fan and haven’t downloaded ‘Dupstep Volume 1′ that was released yesterday, then get on it! Second, really solid dubstep remix on this one. I absolutely love it, but that may be because I absolutely love The Postal Service as well. Either way, I would say it’s one of The Postal Service’s top 3 tracks turned dubstep, so definitely give this one a listen.
