The Soundmen – Bermuda (ft. Avan Lava)

We have made it half way through the week so figured it was time for a nice chill track to lounge to.   The Soundmen have teamed up with fellow Brooklyn band, Avan Lava for their latest single, Bermuda and it is exactly what you would expect.  Avan Lava provides very smooth vocals over a great Soundmen instrumental to match.  They say this track was ‘built for the beach’ so download it below and throw it on as you finish up the last few weeks of summer.  Enjoy!

ZHU – Faded (Big Gigantic Remix)

Arguably one of the top 5 tracks of 2014 was ZHU’s hit “Faded”, and the remixes keep pouring in. We had our favorite rap remix featuring Sean Dee drop a couple months back, and today we have what may be our favorite remix by a fellow electronic artist. The duo Big Gigantic add their signature saxophone sound to the hit song while keeping the original vocals, and the result is spectacular. Catch Big Gigantic taking over Red Rocks next month by clicking here. Enjoy!

David Guetta & Showtek – Bad (Ft. Vassy) (The Rooftop Boys Remix)

The summer may be close to an end, but The Rooftop Boys are keeping it sunny with their newest “Bad remix” by David Guetta & Showtek. A newly formed production duo of DJs, Hyperbits and Bender, their previous “Bound 2 remix” was their first ever song and helped put them on our radars. The Rooftop Boys version of “Bad” features a brilliant, tropical sounding introduction that climbs underneath the sensational vocals from Vassy. It’s deep-house vibe is paramount, though, where its two delightful drops help keep August funky as we transition into labor day. Take a listen to The Rooftop Boys “Bad remix” by David Guetta & Showtek featuring Vassy and start following The Rooftop Boys on Facebook for new music. Enjoy!

Pegboard Nerds – BADBOI

The Scandinavian duo Pegboard Nerds, comprised of Alex Odden and Michael Parsberg, are back with some new music today in the form of “BADBOI”. This track has the typical trap sound, but with an almost Jamaican undertone to it that puts it in a category all by itself. The guys release this just days before they start their second international headlining tour, so make sure you grab tickets to see them live here. Enjoy!

Grouplove – I’m With You (STRFKR Remix)

STRFKR are known for their excellent remixes and the one they just released is no different. New from the Portland based electronic outfit comes a remix of Grouplove’s “Im With You.” Instead of cranking up the BPMs of an already high energy song, the quartet have slowed the track down and added a thumping synth melody that pairs perfectly with the original cut. With summer unfortunately coming to an end this is a great remix to help squeeze out that last bit of vacation before we’re all heading back to school. Grab the download for free below and head over to STRFKR’s Facebook & SoundCloud for more. Enjoy!

2 Pac – Changes (Ft. Talent) (Gazzo Remix)

2pac‘s “Changes” is arguably one of the best hip-hop songs of all time. Featuring vocals by talent, the 1998 single illustrates the struggles of living in the ghetto. A song that withstands the test of time because of its deep lyrical content, Gazzo added an EDM dimension with his newest remix. Gazzo’s “Changes remix” has been teased by him at Electric Adventure and Moonrise festivals this month where its progressive-house beat and jazzy instrumentals easily connects dance music audiences with traditional fans of hip-hop. Take a listen to Gazzo’s “Changes remix” by 2Pac and download the track for free by liking Gazzo on Facebook. Enjoy!

Captain Murphy – Cosplay

It’s not often that Flying Lotus raps, but when he does he takes on the ghostly cartoon alter ego Captain Murphy. You may remember his first appearance with Earl Sweatshirt on the track “Between Friends” and now he’s teamed up with Adult Swim from Cartoon Network. Not only has AS released a short video introducing the world to the backstory of Captain Murphy, they even went as far as to feature his new track “Cosplay” as one of their Sixteen Singles in Sixteen Weeks compilation. There’s an eerie, lo-fi quality to the track but it still has the fundamental sound we’ve come to expect from Flylo. Watch The Birth of Captain Murphy below and grab the download of “Cosplay” for free. Enjoy.

Elliphant – Only Getting Younger (Ft. Skrillex) (NGHTMRE X Imanos Remix)

Imanos dropped two tracks last week and both of them are FIRE. Last Tuesday Imanos released his official “Just Girly Things remix” by Dawin, before dropping this wicked “Only Getting Younger remix” by Elliphant, which is also a collaboration with NGHTMARE.

The artist who collaborated with Diplo on the 2013 smash, “Revolution”, Imanos and NGHTMARE’s  signature trap styles collide  on this new remix. A reggae single, this infectious remix BUMPS, climbing with gritty Elliphant’s rap vocals into 2 hard drops making Imanos remix a festival jam and summer anthem. Take a listen to Imanos & NGHTMARE’s “Only Getting Younger remix” and start following Imanos on Twitter and NGHTMARE on Twitter for new music and future show dates. Enjoy!

Baauer and Boys Noize Rocked Governor’s Island For Sunday Funday! (8/10) [Event Review]

Governor’s Island is New York City’s premier summer destination for dance music concerts. A showcase series that has featured several of the world’s best DJs, the event organized by RPM presents saw Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano headline last Saturday night before Baauer and Boys Noize took over the following night for a rare Sunday Funday party.

The Sunday featuring Baauer and Boys Noize may have been one of the Island’s most fun experiences all summer. After opening sets from PiloL-Vis 1990Samo Sound BoySpank Rock, and Leif, Baauer chants ensued. But those chants turned to screams when Baauer finally came on. A renowned trap DJ, Baauer’s set consisted of funky tribal, house, and DnB beats. He also brought out the surprise of the night, ASAP Ferg, who came out to the hit single, “Work”, was exciting. Then when Baauer dropped ASAP Ferg’s “Shabba,” the night had climaxed and the focused crowd erupt.

Baauer continued finishing his 60-minute set with songs like “Wiggle remix” by Jason Derulo and Twrk, his own “Rollup remix” by Flosstradaumus, and of course “Hot Nigga” by Bobby Shmurda. The reverberating bass sounds, from Baauers trap and hip-hop would have the lively audience bouncing with his up-beat rhythms non-stop and that momentum would continue into Boys Noize’s performance, where keep the crowd vibing to the music well into midnight.

Boys Noize may be an up & coming talent, but his raw, bass-driven anthems were beyond dope. The German native played a highly original set where everyone was having fun. The audience grooved to the infectious sounds of Boys Noize’s techno/electro house music and it was because his breaks and transitions were flawless. He kept the music’s tempo upbeat playing a variety of songs off his ‘Out Of The Black album’ like “XTC” and other wicked tunes such as DJ Snake’s “Lunatic,” and Dog Blood’s sinister sounding “Wild For The Night remix.”

Both DJs and producers, Baauer and Boys Noize played their electro, techno, and trap music to the sights of their own custom stage setups with fog blasters, smoke, and kaleidoscopic lighting. They attracted a sold-out NYC-audience, and with both artist’s exciting drops and unexpected guests last Sunday night was quite possibly the craziest crowd that Governor’s Island may have seen this entire summer. Start following Baauer on TwitterBoys Noize on Twitter, and RPM Presents on Twitter for new music and future shows. Enjoy!
